On Sunday, October 23rd, the Temple Social Committee joined with the Wakefield WWII Memorial Committee to present a musical tribute to WWII veterans in A Few Seconds With Our Fathers. This program featured Maine Singer-Songwriter Curt Bessette and his wife Jenn Kurtz with original songs and stories about WWII heroes. Jenn shared a story about those on the home front including a lumber mill run by women for several years during wartime. Veterans who spoke about their experiences were our own Milton Freeman and Wakefield resident Alfred Willette.
Thank you to those who attended that day. Thanks to Temple Board members for the donation to purchase a granite paver on the walkway to the memorial. The paver reads, “In memory of all Jewish war veterans.” If you go to Wakefield Common, our paver is on the west side, close to the beginning of the walkway.
A certificate of thanks has been framed and hung in Weizmann Hall.
